Unforgettable Indian motorcycles from the 1970s

PS – I still love the sound of my neighbor’s motorcycle, very awesome to hear. Far from the cast iron engines of the past, the new Royal Enfields are more modern in terms of technology but still a favourite among the biking circles. If it was a Polish parts built machine, then for sure,it will bear ” WFM” instead of Rajdoot in the timing cover.

My Royal Enfield Sherpa cc with Villers engine. And so has its market share. Actually they are available freely in Poland, and cheap too. Introduced in early s, and branded Yezdi mostly, although certain models with Jawa monikers were also sold, the vehicles offered great versatility — they could scale mountains, go on long trips, and even handle everyday chores easily.

There still are some rare parts I’m trying for, like the crest on the Headlight for surrounding the ignition lock It had been fitted onto mine, as the holes testify, but not there now, alas. Anyway, I will be restoring this bike very slowly, since the engine runs great, and I first want to get used to riding it, with its quirks. The following BHPian Thanks insaneinsaan for this useful post: The pocket rocket of a bike had the same cc two-stroke engine of the full size Rajdoots, and reached a cult status. Proudly powered by E2E Networks.

The time now is I also have a i guess Rajdoot with round tank but I am not sure they have tank pads as there is no groove. The standard Rajdoot continued, following updates, until the model was raidoot due to strict emissions. Anyone going to Poland?? Can anyone get the correct one for this model?? Rajdoot Excel-T – Wikipedia

Last edited by aargee: Till then, I’d be very grateful for any help in getting any of the parts I need, including bits and pieces I haven’t mentioned for lack of a user manual! The engine was detuned, the carburettors were rejetted for fuel economy rather than performance, the front disc brake was substituted for a cheaper mm TLS drum brake, the instruments are copies of the older Rajxoot R5the alternator has less output and the tank graphics are re-badged “Rajdoot” and rajdokt “Yamaha”.

However, the Rajdoot was not biike commercial success due to its relatively high fuel consumption in a cost-conscious Indian market. This thread is going to be dedicated to an unsung hero of Indian heritage bikes. User Name Remember Me?
